Location: Hattingen-GER, The Hague, Rotterdam-Botlek (NL) or Belgium:Diegem, Keumiee.
Travelling:ca. 50 - 60% EU wide, maybe UK

Background: The Environmental engineer is responsible for functional leadership support for environmental permitting with the GEMTE and operations team in EUA region for projects supported by the EU organisation. To provide support to ensure the client can comply with all applicable laws, permits and regulations for the projects.
To ensure that new legal and permit requirements, procedures, training, auditing is implemented in a timely, effective, and practical manner.

Tasks (independent delivery):
o To provide timely and effective EHS support and permitting services to identify and deliver all required environmental/EHS permits with practicable conditions for developing, bidding, and executing all assigned large capital projects to meet project schedules. This includes the selection and management of all third-party environmental engineering contractors needed to support the permitting process. Main focus of the role will be on new businesses and projects in the H2, H2FM area, Plus Large capital project activity
o Prepare /submit permit applications and conduct permit negotiations with regulatory agencies or MOC process to ensure plant changes follow the permit and necessary permit changes are evaluated and applications made in a timely fashion
o Develop effective relationships with environmental regulatory agency leadership
o Work in conjunction with multiple functions , e.g. Business Development, Government Relations, Legal , sub regional EH&S team and the regional environmental functional leader, participate in companywide work groups and improvement teams as assigned to develop environmental permitting project concepts and strategies
o Evaluate the project relative to EHS regulations and AP standards and identify compliance tasks, procedures, methods, and tools to comply with issued environmental permits and applicable regulations.
o Provision of EHS support to develop and coach the project teams in all aspects of implementation of the
management system
o Maintain and improve programs and work processes across all environmental media to comply with
environmental regulations, permit requirements, internal policies and standards.
o Monitor new and emerging EH&S legislation, and industry codes of practice
o Provide technically sound advice and calculations to support certification of hydrogen or other products as required by the business
o Train and hand-off compliance responsibilities to other environmental and operations personnel.
o Provide back up for the European Environmental advisor

Skills:
o Engineering background and Bachelor’s degree
o 5+ years of experience supporting and/or leading the environmental permitting process for large industrial
and/or pipeline projects.
o Excellent presentation, one-on-one interpersonal, and negotiating skills. The ability to reduce complex technical
and regulatory elements into language that non-environmental and non-technical people can understand.
