Description
We have a current opportunity for a Senior Release Train Engineer 100% (f/m/d) on a permanent basis. The position will be based in Zurich.
As a Release Train Engineer you are part of the strategic delivery unit, directly reporting to the Global Head of IT. You deliver the strategic technology related roadmaps in partnership with our business. You take responsibility for the technology related deliveries ensuring cross initiative dependency management and building solutions that are sustainable, global where possible and capable of supporting growth (scalable).
In that specific role, you act as RTE for our strategic Portfolio Management and Position Management Domain, organized as an Agile Release Train (ART) based on SAFe principles.
YOUR CHALLENGE
• Work with the ART leadership team, agile devops teams and other ART’s/departments to ensure strategy alignment and effective execution of the delivery while minimizing risk
• Support and guide the definition and implementation of Epics, Initiatives and Features
• Ensure adherence to our Technology Governance across our 5 Governance Pillars (Operations, Architecture, Delivery Quality, Finance and Risk)
• Ensure adherence to relevant guardrails including our project methodology, risk controls and strategic settings
• Jointly manage the program backlog with the ART leadership team and formulate staffing demands towards the Line organization (expert pools)
• Establish, align, and communicate the cadence of Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR), Program Increments (PIs) and Iterations
• Organize and conduct PI plannings, incl. defining objectives with the ART leadership team and agile devops teams
• Facilitate effective ART operation including structure, processes and execution by managing and optimizing the flow of value incl. improving DevOps and release on demand in the continuous delivery pipeline
• Manage ART-level risks, issues, dependencies and impediments with the ART leadership, agile teams and other ART’s/departments
• Support and coach agile teams and Scrum Masters to find the right solution(s) for their impediments
• Work with Finance and the ART leadership to manage the ART finances, capacity and Objective and Key Results (OKRs)/Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Support and facilitate the Architecture Runway, guardrail adherence and Enterprise Architecture governance in strong collaboration with the System Architect
• Foster and contribute to Communities of Practice (CoP) and facilitate continuous improvement in the ART and outside
• Be part of vendor solution evaluations (RfI, RfP) and ensure proper due diligence from IT perspective during the selection process
YOUR PROFILE
• Excellent stakeholder and project management skills incl. budgeting, resource strategy and planning
• Excellent communication, decision-making and interpersonal skills
• Experience in leveraging Scrum, and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies
• Growth-oriented and agile mindset and passionate about change
• Self-motivated, team-oriented, and hands-on personality, fostering a collaborative work environment
• At least 5 years of experience in enabling and leading agile teams across large transformation programs, Agile Release Trains (ARTs) of varying size and complexity
• management, position keeping and reporting is a strong plus
• Higher education required (bachelor or masters in computer science or similar field)
