Underwhelming E-Commerce Sector Offers Hope for Those With IT Jobs
The latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) are showing clear signs of the growing importance of IT support in Australian businesses.
The ABS recently released their Business Use of Information Technology report, which highlighted various IT trends in functions such as internet commerce and social media. It also examined where businesses sourced their IT support from.
One of the main findings from the study was an alarming lack of web presence among companies in Australia.
Even in the digital world we live in, the ABS found that less than half - 44.6 per cent - had any sort of web presence, mainly in the form of a website or homepage.
Nearly all the companies (81.9 per cent) reported having no social media presence, despite it being one of the most effective and widely used marketing tools today.
Of the businesses that had an internet connection, only 27.8 per cent were using it to receive orders over the internet.
If you're looking for IT jobs in Australia, this could present the perfect opportunity for you to use your skills to enhance the online success of Australian companies.
With the advent of cloud computing, social media marketing and other technologies, it is crucial that businesses utilise the power of the internet to stay ahead of competition.
The ABS also reported that a quarter of all businesses in Australia had no IT support at all, and those that did rely heavily on the help of outside contractors and consultants.
