Amsterdam Summer Event 2018
20 July, the day the earth stood still....ok, for some of us.
On this day the summer event for both the Amsterdam and Eindhoven Office is taking place. All colleagues are invited and this event is planned months ahead. It is an annual recurring event and every year we venture for something different and exciting. Of course, what kind of weather we would be experiencing will be a surprise but we can only hope for the best. Even our internal recruiter and our HR Advisor are coming from London.
This Friday took of as any normal Friday with the only difference that everyone was unusual casually dressed. The Friday office dresscode is casual but today everybody treated this day as extra-special: Hawaiian shirts, skirts and floral dresses all over the place. Even the area manager conjured flip-flops and shorts out of a hat. Although the day started at the normal time, there was s a special buzz in the office and everybody was ready to live a fun packed day. Before we leave to the beach at Zandvoort we did a short quiz with questions on all sorts concerning work life and office knowledge and some funny information was revealed…. The winners won water pistols and obviously everyone was wet before we even set foot on the bus which would bring us to our destination.
The past couple of weeks we experienced some serious summer temperatures and also this day promised to be marvellous.
The beach club we visited had reserved a special area for us where we spend the entire day. They promised to entertain us with cocktail mixing, rafting and a ride on a powerboat. For dinner we would have a nice BBQ with everything a foodie heart can desire.
Our group was split into two, one half would go splashing and paddling in the North Sea and the other half would do mixing cocktails and of course drinking our new learned knowledge. While cocktail mixing we looked through the window and we saw our colleagues struggling in the water... and we enjoyed our cocktails even more.
The brave ones who had tackled the water activities admitted that it was a demanding job keeping everyone afloat and of course everybody kept afloat. For the BBQ both groups came together again and everybody enjoyed their meal together while chatting away.
The day ended for us back in Amsterdam. The last drinks were poured and we can safely say it was a wonderful day.
