The Zurich team hit Lake Lucerne for a raft building challenge
The team travelled to Lido Strandbad, Luzern - a mini beach paradise on the banks of the beautiful Lake Lucerne. Located in central Switzerland, the lake is the fourth largest in the country and is ranked as Lucerne’s top tourist attraction. Understandably, the city was the perfect place for our Swiss employees to get stuck in to a raft building challenge!
The team was immediately thrown into the deep end as they were handed heavy wooden logs, a generous amount of rope, and a couple of rather large inflatable tubes by their instructor. Their manual and logical skills were then put to the test, as they were told that they would have to build a floating raft from scratch!
Left to their own devices, the staff put their minds together and developed a strategy to ensure that they completed the task to the best of their ability. This hands-on activity was an entirely new experience for the whole team, so they decided that they would work out where their individual strengths lay.
The boys got physical as they used their strength to help with the heavy lifting that was involved, while the girls took on a more strategic role by planning how they would structure the raft. Everyone helped to manually inflate the tubes on which the platform rest, and assembled the final craft!
Collectively assigning individuals particular roles meant that everybody contributed in their own way, and their talents were recognised. This helped to unleash the team’s potential, and proves that the staff put 100% effort into any team work environment.
Once the team had successfully built the raft, they took it out for a relaxing row down Switzerland’s most scenic lake. After all of their hard work, the team were rewarded with a ‘floating’ picnic with snacks and drinks.
“We chose this activity because it had to be a serious team effort - we literally had to learn and figure out how to tie knots together in order for the whole structure of the raft to stay together. I am really proud of the whole team, it shows that we can do anything as long as we put our minds too it!” Vanessa Eichenberger, Account Manager.
