IT Support, Maintenance & Operations Engineer (L2)

We are looking for an IT Support, Maintenance & Operations Engineer (L2) for one ouf our clients in Brussels. Dutch OR French speaking

 

Location: Brussels Region (Hybrid)

Start Date: October / November 2026

Duration: 6-month contract

Languages: English (mandatory) + fluent French or Dutch

Flexible hybrid model (typically 2-4 days onsite per week)

 

We are looking for an experienced IT Support, Maintenance & Operations Engineer (Level 2) to join an international technology-driven environment supporting business-critical systems and applications.

This role combines operational support, incident management, maintenance activities, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. You will work closely with technical teams, end users, and stakeholders to ensure the reliability, stability, and performance of key digital platforms.

 

Key Responsibilities

Incident & Service Management

  • Manage and resolve Level 2 incidents and service requests from investigation through resolution.
  • Perform root cause analysis on complex technical issues.
  • Monitor system health and proactively identify potential risks.
  • Escalate issues when appropriate and coordinate with specialist teams.
  • Ensure clear communication with stakeholders throughout the incident lifecycle.

Maintenance & Operations

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Support software releases, upgrades, patches, and operational changes.
  • Participate in testing, validation, and deployment activities.
  • Maintain system documentation and operational procedures.
  • Assist in ensuring business continuity and operational readiness.

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

  • Investigate recurring incidents and identify long-term solutions.
  • Contribute to process optimisation and service improvements.
  • Create and maintain knowledge base articles and troubleshooting guides.
  • Support automation initiatives and operational efficiency projects.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with Development, Infrastructure, DevOps, and Support teams.
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Build strong relationships with business and operational stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and customer-focused support culture.

 

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Level 2 Support, Operations, or System Administration role.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows and/or Linux environments.
  • Experience supporting business-critical applications and services.
  • Good understanding of ITIL-based service management processes.
  • Experience working with databases, application logs, and monitoring tools.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

 

Technical Environment

Experience in several of the following areas is highly desirable:

  • Windows Server
  • Linux Administration
  • SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch
  • IIS
  • APIs and systems integration
  • Monitoring and observability tools
  • Scripting (PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, or similar)
  • Virtualisation technologies
  • Jira and Confluence
