Renewable Energy Commissioning Consultant – Solar Projects

Project Locations: UK, Poland, Hungary and Germany

We are looking for an experienced Renewable Energy Commissioning Consultant to support the execution and commissioning of a portfolio of solar power plant projects across Europe.

The role will focus on providing independent technical consultancy and monitoring throughout the commissioning phase, ensuring projects meet agreed timelines, quality standards, safety requirements and contractual obligations.

Tasks

• Provide technical consultancy and independent monitoring of commissioning activities across multiple solar farm sites.

• Monitor commissioning progress against project schedules, quality standards, safety requirements and contractual obligations.

• Review commissioning activities and provide technical recommendations to optimise project delivery.

• Develop, produce and maintain comprehensive commissioning documentation, including commissioning programmes, test procedures and handover documentation.

• Support the transition from construction into Operations & Maintenance (O&M), ensuring operational readiness and effective system verification.

• Provide technical input and consultancy for contract negotiations, technical schedules, new tenders and future project phases.

• Provide technical support throughout the complete commissioning process, from initial preparation through to final handover to the operations team.

• Document commissioning results, findings and recommendations and present them to the project team.

• Ensure all relevant technical documentation and project results are comprehensively documented and handed over for future use.

Skills:

• Proven professional experience in solar power plant commissioning or a closely related renewable energy environment.

• Strong technical understanding of commissioning processes for utility-scale solar projects.

• Experience developing commissioning programmes, test procedures and technical documentation.

• Experience supporting the transition from construction to operations and maintenance.

• Good understanding of project schedules, quality requirements, safety standards and contractual obligations.

• Ability to independently assess technical requirements and identify appropriate commissioning activities and procedures.

• Experience providing technical input into tenders, contracts and technical schedules is advantageous.

• Strong documentation and reporting skills.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently with multiple project stakeholders.

• Willingness to support projects across the UK, Poland, Hungary and Germany where required.
