About the Role

Our client is expanding their international security team and seeking an additional Technical Information Security Specialist to join the organization in The Hague. As a company operating in the pharmaceutical sector, they recognize that protecting sensitive data and ensuring operational continuity is vital to both innovation and compliance. In this role, you will work closely with IT and business teams to implement and maintain robust technical security controls that support their ongoing mission to improve health outcomes worldwide.

You will be part of a small, international team of specialists, giving you the opportunity to make a visible impact and take ownership of key security initiatives. The compact team structure allows for close collaboration, short lines of communication, and greater involvement across the full security landscape — from technical implementation to strategic input. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic environment, proactively solving problems, and enabling secure operations across the organization.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Analyze IT specifications to assess security risks
  • Design and implement safety measures and data recovery plans
  • Install, configure, and upgrade security software (e.g. antivirus programs)
  • Secure networks through firewalls, password protection and other systems
  • Inspect hardware for vulnerable points of access
  • Monitor network activity to identify issues early and communicate them to IT teams
  • Act on privacy breaches and malware threats
  • Serve as a security expert and conduct training when needed
  • Draft policies and guidelines

Set yourself apart

  • BSc/BA degree in Computer Science.
  • 2 years of experience as an IT Security specialist.
  • Knowledge of ICT, ITIL Security management.
  • You are proactive, proactive and a strong discussion partner at all levels within the organization.
  • You are aware of what is going on around information security and can translate these developments into the consequences for our organization.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks (e.g. NIST Cybersecurity framework) and risk management methodologies.
  • Knowledge of patch management, firewalls and intrusion detection/prevention.
  • Familiarity with public key infrastructure (PKI) and cryptographic protocols (e.g. SSL/ TLS)
